Robin Schone writes erotic historical romance with a definite difference. It was used incessantly in the first book too, but for some reason it just irritated me more in this one. There’s nothing I hate robjn then shelling out good money for a book that bores me Overall, I liked Anne and found Michael to be intruguing enough to complete the book.
If any couple deserves a happily ever after it is Gabriel and Victoria. I’d say lovrr main focus here was Gabriel’s growth and healing.
Book 1 of a 2 parter. I keep getting into trouble by writing long reviews but forgetting to include ‘spoilers’ in them.

The sex was really the weakest part of the book for me. I had been told this was schohe, and that was what made me pick it up, but I really didn’t expect the reality of it.
The Lover (The Lover, #1) by Robin Schone
It feels choppy, stiff, stilted, and incredibly cold and clinical. These items are shipped from and sold by different sellers. It wasn’t horrible and the fact that Michael and Anne’s relationship is so well-written makes it so that you still feel the passion between them, but it hadn’t been what I was expecting.
Loved seriously, it’s well worth the time to indulge yourself with a sexy historical story that has amazing love scenes, tragedy that’s so twisted it’s painful to imagine. I know there’s the next book, which might serve to give us an update on these two, but I don’t like when you have to rely on the next book to get your full dose of HEA.
There was a rather gloomy, repressed attitude permeating these pages.
Yikes, what a style to get used to! The more I learned about his past and his trials, the more my heart ached for him. View all 4 comments. The ages of the main characters were very unusual for romance and something that I appreciated: Definitely worth the read, or in my case second read.
